Games of Oct. 3-4, 2025
The Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware, is D3football.com's weekly honor roll, in its 27th season of recognizing the top performance at each position from the previous week. Players are nominated by schools.
Offense
QB Connor Barry, Jr., Christopher Newport
Barry led the Captains by throwing five touchdown passes and running for a score in CNU's double-overtime victory at Rowan. Barry completed 27 of 44 passes for 434 yards with no interceptions. Barry led the Captains back from a 20-6 first half deficit, and his 14-yard TD scamper with just 41 seconds left pulled CNU even at 34-34 to force overtime. Barry connected with wide receiver Colin Hart on an 80-yard pass in the fourth quarter and hit Hart again for a 20-yard TD in the first overtime. He has thrown for 17 touchdowns and just one interception on the season.
OL Carson Gaido, Adam Walden, Kyle Willingham, Joseph Montez, DJ Greer, Mary Hardin-Baylor
UMHB's offensive line paved the way for 284 yards on the ground against ETBU, allowing just 3 yards lost on a quarterback keeper. They also limited the Tigers, who led the nation in sacks coming into the week, to just one sack, a drop when the quarterback gave himself up to run the clock. UMHB averaged 6.9 yards per carry, scoring four touchdowns on the ground.
RB Jase Grunder, So., Central
Grunder had the sixth-highest single-game rushing total in program history with 241 yards against Loras. He scored three touchdowns, including two in the second half as Central overcome a halftime deficit for a 45-27 win. Grunder averaged 8.6 yards per carry.
RB Noah Currier, Jr., Alfred State
Currier led the Pioneers offense as he tallied 292 yards on 35 carriers for three touchdowns. Alfred State defeated Morrisville State, 41-21, giving the Pioneers their first conference win as a member of the Empire 8.
WR Kristian Gavric, Jr., UW-Platteville
Gavric was the Pioneers' top target in a 52-0 win vs. UW-Stevens Point and set several career-bests in the process. He hauled in 15 passes, tied for the sixth-most in a single game in UW-Platteville program history, for 154 yards and a touchdown. Gavric capped his day with a 30-yard touchdown reception early in the fourth quarter to extend the Pioneers' lead to 45-0.
WR Davion Henderson, Jr., Concordia-Moorhead
Henderson racked up a single-game, program-record 211 receiving yards on nine receptions which eclipsed the old school record of 206 yards set in 2004. His 211 receiving yards are the most by any player in the MIAC this season. His two TDs were the first of the game for the Cobbers and set the offensive tone for the win.
TE Logan Frederick, Sr., Utica
Frederick put together an impressive outing during Saturday's 28-13 defeat at the hands of No. 22 Cortland. The Pioneers' top-tier tight end caught nine passes for 135 yards, with both of those marks registering as game-highs. In addition, Frederick caught the Pioneers' first touchdown of the game, a 17-yard touchdown pass in the heart of the defense. He contributed to many chunk plays, making grabs of 13, 16, 17, 22, and 38 yards.
Defense
DE Bobby Medina, Jr., North Central
Medina anchored a Cardinal defense which shut out No. 14 Wheaton for the first time since 1964. He tallied three sacks, 3.5 tackles for loss and five total tackles. North Central limited Wheaton to minus-2 rushing yards and 148 yards of total offense
DT Ziare Sullivan, So., Manchester
Sullivan was a wrecking ball in Manchester's conference opening 39-23 loss at Bluffton, racking up five total tackles, three tackles for loss and three sacks.
DE Cole Becker, Jr., Pacific Lutheran
Becker had eight tackles and three sacks, including a sack fumble that he recovered in a 31-28 win vs. Willamette. Becker was part of a defensive unit that generated four turnovers and limited the Bearcats to just 13 yards in the fourth quarter.
LB Kyle Dietzen, Sr., UW-Oshkosh
Dietzen recorded a career-high 18 tackles, including seven solo and a tackle for loss, in the Titans' 21-17 home victory over UW-River Falls. His tackle-for-loss came in the fourth quarter, stopping the Falcons on fourth-and-1 on the Oshkosh 21-yard line.
LB Jack Tanoory, So., St. John Fisher
Tanoory led the Cardinals with a career-high 14 tackles, including 13 solo stops, in an upset win, 31-24 in overtime over Brockport. Tanoory made the play of the game in the fourth quarter, stripping Brockport wide receiver Sal Weller at the goal line to prevent a touchdown. The ball bounced through the end zone, resulting in a touchback that allowed Fisher's offense to take over at its 20.
LB Brayden Baker, So., Franklin
Baker registered a career-high 21 tackles (10 solo) in a 34-33 win at Muskingum. He had three tackles for loss, forced a fumble and added a quarterback hurry and half a sack. Two of Baker's tackles came during the fourth-quarter defensive stop that allowed Franklin to get the ball back with 2:49 left for a game-winning drive.
LB Gregory Ohman, Sr., Minnesota-Morris
Ohman totaled 18 tackles, 10 solo and eight assisted in a 35-28 win against Martin Luther. Ohman had five TFLs combining for 20 yards, two sacks for a loss of 9 yards and a forced fumble. On the final play of the game, he sacked the quarterback to secure the one-score win.
CB Devin Williams, Sr., Bethel
Williams registered a team-leading 11 tackles (eight solo), including a tackle for loss and an interception in the Royals' 17-10 victory over then-No. 4 St. John's. Williams' pick came on the fourth play from scrimmage and led to the first three points of the game, which were the first three points SJU had allowed all season.
S Judson Crockett, So., Trinity (Texas)
Crockett finished the game with six tackles (four solo) along with two fumble returns for touchdowns of 34 and 69 yards (103 total) as Trinity held Southwestern scoreless in the second half of a 65-14 win. Crockett also deflected a pass on Southwestern's first drive, which was then promptly intercepted by a fellow Tiger teammate, which meant that he played a part in all three turnovers forced by Trinity's defense. His first fumble return of 34 yards came late in the second quarter and wound up keeping Trinity ahead 16-14 at the break. The second fumble return was a 69-yard touchdown, capping a 28-point third quarter that turned the game around for good.
S Donnell Hall, Jr., Alfred State
Hall led the Alfred State defense as he tallied two interceptions, returning one of them for a 50-yard pick-6 in a 41-21 win against Morrisville State. He also contributed five tackles, three of them solo.
CB Dee Gray, Sr., Belhaven
Gray had a game-high and career-high 11 tackles, eight of them solo, as Belhaven defeated Brevard in overtime, 23-20. He broke up three passes and had a key interception in overtime, ending Brevard's possession and giving the Blazers the opportunity to win the game with a field goal.
Special teams
K Michael Stack, Sr., UW-La Crosse
Stack went 3-for-3 in field goals, including a pair in overtime, in UWL's 23-20 double overtime victory at ninth-ranked UW-Whitewater. He converted a season-long 43-yard field goal with 12:19 left in the game to cut the lead to 17-10. Stack made a 36-yard field goal in the first overtime and then converted the game-winning 36-yard field goal in the second overtime. He was also 2-of-2 on extra point attempts.
P Calvin Evans, Fr., Merchant Marine
Calvin Evans flipped the field all afternoon for Merchant Marine in their 6-3 home NEWMAC win over MIT on Saturday, punting five times for a 41.2 average with a long of 58 and three downed inside the 20. That included kicks to the MIT 11, 2 and 1 in the second half that kept the Engineers from getting anything going on offense.
RET Luke Sams, Fr., Trinity (Texas)
Sams became the fourth player in Trinity football history to return a kickoff for 100 yards, leading Trinity to a 65-14 SAA win over Southwestern. After the Pirates scored late in the second quarter to make it a 16-14 game at the half, Sams set the tone for what turned out to be a 49-0 second half for Trinity by taking the opening kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown.
ST Chris Holland, So., Muhlenberg
Holland blocked a 38-yard field goal on the final play of the game to preserve Muhlenberg's 39-36 home win against Ursinus. The game was the fourth for the Mules in the last three seasons to end on a field goal try.
