Jai Boatman had two interceptions and Julian Turner had three tackles for loss and a pass breakup as the Tigers of Trinity (Texas) went to Pacific Lutheran and won, 23-13. After starting last season 1-3, Trinity is 4-0 to start the season for the first time since 2011.

The Tigers broke the game open with a 17-point third quarter and led 23-7 until PLU scored with 29 seconds left. Although Pacific Lutheran and Willamette have been playoff contenders, all four of Trinity's wins have come against teams that are currently winless.

"It shows the program growth, but at the same time, we have a long, tough road ahead," said Tigers coach Jerheme Urban. "We will take it one game at a time."

It was a similar story for Stevenson, which defeated Misericordia 28-13 to improve to 4-0, 3-0 in the MAC. Jeff Farrah was 25-for-37 for 250 yards and three TDs for the Mustangs.

Emory & Henry became the second Division III team to beat East Tennessee State this season as the Wasps scored with 55 seconds left for a 27-24 win. ETSU is a first-year program at the Division I FCS level. E&H stuffed ETSU on a fourth-down conversion attempt at midfield with 2:08 left and was in the end zone four plays later to take the lead.

St. John Fisher finally picked up its first win of the season, and it was in dramatic fashion as the Cardinals edged Brockport 42-41 in two overtimes. Fisher missed a potential game-winning field goal in the first overtime but came out and scored a touchdown in the second extra session. The Cardinals then held on when Brockport's extra point went wide right.

Hamilton rallied from a 21-point deficit to force overtime, but Tufts prevailed in the extra session. Meanwhile, Middlebury edged Wesleyan 28-25 as the NESCAC got underway. Chase Rosenberg threw three touchdown passes in a span of 12 plays in the second half as the Continentals came all the way back to tie the score at 21-21. But Hamilton failed to score on its overtime possession and Willie Holmquist answered with a field goal to give the Jumbos the win.

Salisbury absolutely rolled on offense, only facing six third downs all day in cruising to a 91-7 win vs. Southern Virginia in the teams' first NJAC meeting. Nobody had more than nine carries for the Sea Gulls, as 14 players carried the ball in the win. Aarron Moore had four carries for 104 yards and three TDs.

Ohio Northern scored 24 unanswered points in the second half and the Polar Bears defeated Heidelberg 34-20 to improve to 2-1. The Student Princes rolled up 500 yards of total offense, but threw an interception and missed a field goal in the second half as ONU pulled away.

Leondre Simmon scored twice in the span of 13 seconds and St. Lawrence never trailed again as the Saints won at Union, 42-23. Simmon caught a 3-yard TD pass on offense to give St. Lawrence a 14-10 lead, then intercepted a Nick Cascione pass and returned it 39 yards for the TD on the first play of the next drive. St. Lawrence improved to 3-1.

St. Norbert scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to salt the game away and improved to 3-0, striking a blow for the Midwest Conference's North Division against the South Division with a 21-2 win at Illinois College. 

Latif Adams rushed for a school record 270 yards as Westminster (Mo.) ran past Greenville 30-20. The Blue Jays improved to 3-1, while Greenville dropped to 1-3, matching the number of losses the Panthers had all of last season.

Berry won a road game for the first time in the history of the program, as the Vikings defeated Sewanee 14-3.  Kevin Grier returned an interception 52 yards for a touchdown for the Vikings (3-1).

Jeff Avery threw three first half touchdown passes to stake RPI to a 28-0 lead at halftime and the Engineers held off WPI 28-21 at Alumni Stadium in a battle for the Transit Trophy and the Liberty League opener for both teams. Zach Grasis ran for 75 yards and two second-half touchdowns, but it wasn't enough. Rochester continued its strong start, scoring twice off Springfield turnovers and keeping the Pride attack in check in a 29-3 win. Springfield ran for just 219 yards on 61 carries.
