D3football.com releases its Team of the Week on Tuesdays and Lake Forest College's A.J. Jackson was among this week's honorees.
Jackson scored five rushing touchdowns and amassed 194 all-purpose yards during the Foresters' 42-35 victory over visiting Illinois College on Saturday. Usually a wide receiver, the graduate student frequently lined up in the backfield in the game and is listed as a running back on the Team of the Week. Jackson finished with 55 yards rushing, 66 receiving, 37 on punt returns, and 36 on kickoff returns.
Three of Jackson's five touchdowns were lead-changing plays and the final one gave the home team a 14-point advantage that was cut in half by the end of the contest.
Saturday's touchdown total was actually not a career high for Jackson, who reached the end zone six times on receptions in the first half of a game in 2021. He has now scored 10 touchdowns as a rusher, 29 as a receiver, one on a kickoff return, and an NCAA Division III record nine on punt returns during his Forester career.
The D3football.com Team of the Week began in 1999 and Jackson's six career selections are just one shy of the most earned by any individual player.
