LINCOLN, Neb. - The University of Dubuque football team extended it's current consecutive win streak to 10 games after a dominating 31-14 victory at the Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairiewolves on Saturday. The hosts playing on their homecoming showcased a new videoboard, unfortunately it was filled with plenty of Spartans defensive highlights.

The Spartans were without starting quarterback Jacob Keller who was a late week scratch after an injury in the Buena Vista victory a week ago. Brandon Coppola got the nod for the start and he would share time with Ben Gultig and both would have a successful time behind center. The pair would hand off to the run game where four Spartan scores would happen.

Kallion Buckner put the day's first points on the board with a 10 yard run at 6:32 of the opening quarter. The run capped off a nine play 86 yard drive using up just 4:12 on the clock. Tiger Geeslin put UD up by two scores after he rambled in from 12 yards with 9:02 left in the second quarter. It was a nine play 82 yard drive in 4:43. Jacob Wolf extended the Spartan lead to 17-0 at halftime with a 27 yard field goal with 1:59 left in the half.

The two squads traded defensive stands for most of the third quarter before the Spartans Buckner score a second time, this time on a five yard run. He completed an 11 play drive for 58 yards using up over six minutes on the clock.

The host Prairiewolves defense would provide their first points of the day on a 22 yard fumble return at 14:08 of the fourth quarter. Buckner got the hat trick with his third rushing touchdown on the afternoon. He bounced off defenders en route to a 35 yard touchdown scamper to put the game away with 10:49 remaining in the game. It was a one play drive which took just nine seconds off the clock.

The Prairiewolves scored the final points at 5:17 off a 27 yard touchdown pass to slice the Spartan lead to 31-14 as time expired.

Geeslin and Buckner led the ground game with 121 yards and 118 yards combining for four TD's. Elliott Pipkin was the lone Spartan over 100 yards in receiving with four catches for 107 yards.

Jordan Boatright led the defense with six tackles as Colton Pedersen and Adam Steingraeber grabbed five tackles. The Spartans D held NWU to 239 yards of total offense and just eight yards rushing. Tyler Geiman and Casey Larson would both end the afternoon with interceptions for UD.

Special teams Jacob Wolf was perfect, 1-1 in field goals and 4-4 in extra points. Conner Halla punted six times for 231 yards and Tyler Sheffield finished with six kickoffs for 354 yards. Jordan Labelle ran three punt returns back for 20 yards.

UD (4-1 overall, 2-0 in A-R-C) will host the Simpson College Storm (next week for homecoming on Chalmers Field with kick-off slated for 2 p.m. The Storm beat Luther on Saturday by a 68-34 margin.
