After having one coach for 30 years, Occidental is about to have three head coaches in three seasons. Bill Redell announced his retirement after one year on the job at his alma mater.

Occidental was 2-7 this past season, its worst season since 1999.

According to the Pasadena Sun, Redell will remain affiliated with the athletic department in an advisory role.

"We're very grateful to have had Bill lead our program this year," Hoffman said in a school release. "In a short amount of time, he's had a very positive impact, so much so that we're not ready to let him go just yet. He's agreed to stay on in a consulting role. Most immediately he'll serve on the search committee and once a permanent replacement is chosen, he'll serve as an advisor to the football team and to the athletic administration."
